New Addition to PharmaHealth – Sonal Murthy as Clinical Pharmacist

DARTMOUTH – PharmaHealth Pharmacies, with region wide delivery service and two locations in both Dartmouth and New Bedford, announces its association with Sonal Murthy, B.S., Pharm. D.

"Ms. Murthy contributes a wealth of experience and education to our team as we meet the varied Pharmaceutical needs on the Southcoast." said Richard Brisson, B.S., R. Ph., owner and company president since 1977.

In her role as Clinical Pharmacist, Dr. Murthy draws upon her education with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Science from Florida Atlantic University, and her Doctor of Pharmacy earned at The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences in Boston, Ma.

"I have worked in a variety of local and regional pharmacy environments, including at The Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. The opportunity to use what I know to be of assistance to the many patients of PharmaHealth is very much appreciated." she said.

As Clinical Pharmacist, Dr. Sonal Murthy conducts complete patient profile reviews to evaluate the correctness of prescribed medications which includes drug-drug interaction, therapy duplications, allergies, appropriate dose, the inherent toxicity of a drug, and the potential side effects.

She also maintains liaison relationships with medical and nursing staff to provide timely information pertaining to medication, and about state and federal regulations regarding drug control standards.

She works in collaboration with HIV/AIDS facilities to optimize individualized medication and provides appropriate recommendations regarding patient-specific pharmacotherapy.

Community nursing staff within hospice and palliative care regimens benefit from her clinical management of patient pharmacotherapy, and she designs and implements procedures and protocols for the Medication Therapy Management Program.
