PharmaHealth Pharmacy Attends 4th Annual HIV Update Conference

May 2008

PharmaHealth Pharmacy’s owner and CEO Richard Brisson, B.S., R.Ph and two of his associates, Sonal Murthy, Pharm.D., B.S., and Abigail DuPont, B.S., Sales and Marketing Consultant, travelled to Provincetown recently for the 4th Annual HIV Update Conference. The program was jointly presented by The New England AIDS Education and Training Center and The University of Massachusetts Medical School CME to a wide audience of Primary Care Providers, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Social Workers, and The PharmaHealth Pharmacists and staff.

"We benefited from case presentations and discussions about the most recent and significant findings in HIV Care and Treatment, as well as scientific advances and trends in prevention for HIV. Our company is very committed to our community in a variety of ways, not the least of which is staying on top of HIV concerns, particularly with the rates of infection we note in Fall River and New Bedford," Mr. Brisson said.

Detailed information was provided about recent clinical research and prevention efforts, and the gaps which still exist in treatment, prevention and policy. Among the outcomes were the ability to explain the current understanding of HIV transmission to Primary Care Practitioners, explain issues of racial disparity to community efforts for HIV prevention and care, and the ability to identify cognitive changes that effect people infected with HIV.
