PharmaHealth Attends 4th International Conference on HIV Treatment Adherence in Miami, FL

PharmaHealth Pharmacy owner Richard Brisson, R.Ph, along with V.P. of Patient Services, Mark DeStephano, B.S., and Director of Clinical Pharmacy, Sonal Murthy, Pharm. D., B.S., attended the 4th International Conference on HIV Treatment Adherence in Miami, FL recently.

The 3-day conference, presented by the world's foremost researchers, clinicians and policy experts, provided state-of-the-science for HIV treatment adherence research, as well as current behavioral and clinical perspectives in practicum for enhancing adherence to HIV treatment in a variety of domestic and international settings.

Through a series of workshops, keynote speakers, plenary and oral abstract presentations, other displays and discussion groups, the PharmaHealth staff and various healthcare and human service professionals, were educated on aspects of adherence assessment, determinants, promotion and interventions, facilitators and barriers to adherence, psychiatric/psychological challenges, housing and socioeconomic stability, ethnic disparities, health systems-level issues and other contextual topics.

This conference was a huge impact on the PharmaHealth staff. Recognizing the high rates of infection in the Fall River and New Bedford area, PharmaHealth Pharmacy is very committed to enhancing and advancing care for persons with HIV/AIDS in our community and actively participates in updated medical education seminars.
