PharmaHealth Pharmacy Attends 5th Annual HIV Update Conference in Provincetown

PharmaHealth Pharmacy's Vice President of Patient Services, Mark DeStephano, traveled to Provincetown recently for the 5th Annual HIV Update Conference. The program was jointly presented by The New England AIDS Education and Training Center and The University of Massachusetts Medical School CME to a wide audience of Primary Care Providers, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Social Workers and Pharmacists.

"We benefited from case presentations and discussions about the most recent clinical research and prevention efforts as well as the need to utilize creative approaches in prevention and treatment. Our company is very committed to enhancing and advancing care for persons with HIV/AIDS in our community. Recognizing the high rates of infection in the Fall River and New Bedford area, PharmaHealth Pharmacy actively participates in updated medical education seminars," said Mr. DeStephano.

Detailed information was provided about recent developments in science, treatment and care, and prevention of HIV/AIDS, including new drugs and strategies. Among the outcomes were the ability to differentiate key cultural issues and language barriers related to end of life care for patients with HIV and how to apply current information to collaborative decision making in the selection of agents for initial HAART regimens. The conference also discussed the ethical dilemma associated with Partner Notification practices (HIV+ test results), legal issues and confidentiality standards.
