PharmaHealth Joins Local Businesses to Provide a Night Out At the Bay Sox Game For Local Youth

On Monday July 13th, PharmaHealth Pharmacy partnered with W.B. Mason and the certified public accounting office of Rosenfield, Raymon & Pielech, to provide an evening of fun for local youth organizations.  A total of 195 youth showed up at the Paul Walsh Field to participate in this special night out at the New Bedford Bay Sox baseball game.

The majority of the kids were middle and high school children involved in the H.O.P.E (Healthy Opportunities for Peaceful Engagement) Collaborative, which is a network of New Bedford community-based organizations, service agencies and community members committed to building and sustaining safe, productive and peaceful opportunities to combat gang violence.  Additional attendees joined us from Whitney Academy in E. Freetown as well as family and friends of PharmaHealth employees.

As the youth arrived at the gate, each was given their ticket for the game, a Bay Sox t-shirt and goodie bag.  The t-shirts had the logo of each sponsoring business on the back and the red drawstring goodie bags, donated by the Bristol County DA’s office, included a Bay Sox program book, Bay Sox wrist band and a food voucher for a hot dog, soda and bag of chips.

Although the Bay Sox ended up losing the game  (2–5) to the Keene (N.H) Swamp Bats, the weather was great and there were plenty of special activities to enjoy.  Small games such as dizzy bat races and a race around the bases were held between innings as well as several opportunities to take pictures with the Whale mascot.

W.B Mason also held a 50-50 raffle for (4) Boston Red Sox tickets, which were won by Whitney Academy student, Mark Cain, who was overjoyed that his ticket was picked.

This trip was one of several ways that PharmaHealth is giving back to the community.  We want others to know that we are not just a pharmacy where you can pick up your medications, but something more than that!  We make that extra effort to support our area businesses and organizations, especially where kids are involved.  Although taking on this event was our first attempt at organizing this many youth at once, we would like to consider it a great success!
